Barton Fabrications Design Supports Silo Safety
Supporting safe working solutions for the food processing industry, Barton Fabrications reports increasing demand for its half penthouse silo design. The latest order secured by the silo supply specialist is a major contract for the company’s half penthouse design at a food plant in the Northwest of England.
Commenting on the significance of its latest order for large scale silos measuring 22m x 3.5m in diameter, Mark Barton, Barton Fabrications’ Managing Director said:
“We have been manufacturing penthouse style silos for over twenty years for both the UK and harsher environment such as Scandinavia. The half penthouse design is proving highly popular with the baking industry: it is a cost effective way to safely deliver open explosion vents with filtration units enclosed in a simple housing.”
The Barton Fabrications half penthouse design encloses filter units in a dedicated housing at the top of the silo. Access via a hatch ensures that regular routine maintenance can be carried out in complete safety. The construction also avoids additional airborne moisture / contamination from entering the silo.

The silos are fitted with load cells and Barton Fabrications’ hygienic sealed skirt which prevents the ingress of vermin and moisture.
