Barton provide a full silo transportation, erection and installation service for new vessels and will also relocate silos supplied by other manufacturers. The installation can be carried out over a week-end to ensure minimum disruption to existing site manufacturing activity. At the start of the project a site survey will be carried out to assess accessibility, hazards, traffic and personnel control and will then form part of the lifting plan. This specifically details the type, position, lift radius and loading of the crane used for lifting and erecting the silo.
Transportation will also be considered as the maximum silo shipping size needs to accommodate ladders, pipes and brackets and local access roads are checked to ensure they can accommodate silo delivery and cranage. Police are notified and a pre-defined route, which checks for bridges and other restrictions, is confirmed. Where vessels are exported, each country’s transportation regulations are considered adding to the logistical complexity.
Once on-site, safe working practices are adopted and the install is carried out in liaison with the customer’s safety team. Barton’s extensive experience and accreditation from SafeContractor for commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety ensures a smooth and trouble free installation process.
